One story [ true if you believe me ] came to my mind.
One TOP police officer went to a tourist place far off from his native place of work / duty to spend holidays.
He went to stroll in main market & buy fruit with his body guards / group .

Shocked !!! The shop keeper refused to sell anything to him !!!

Reason : He was cruel to the common people at about 1500 kilometres away from this shop keeper. Shop keeper knew from the newspapers that one 'important' senior police officer is in town from so & so place....and all his bad deeds were mentioned in the newsprint.

I feel that police officer was the 'POOREST' in town, eventhough earning big & working at very high designation.
