Yes, it is a controlled study based on race, age, gender, religious beliefs and whether the volunteers were unattached or in a relationship...of which all subjects are AMERICANs and it couldnt be applied to other races living "outside" the US.

The result cold not be applied to those who live in China, India, France, UK, Philippines...would it?

Just check the teenage "suicide" mortality rate in the US. Results are basically due to low self-esteem, low self-confidence, bullying, etc.
