Qatar Airways's fleet primarily comprises of Airbus although they recently ordered some B777's and took delivery of the 100th aircraft of their fleet.
Qatar Airways don't have any 747 jumbos. They however have ordered some A380's. That will happen by the time NDIA becomes partially operational by 2012.
Although they ain't as popular as Emirates worldwide, they figure as 5 Star Airline as per Skytrax. The interesting thing about this is that only 7 Airlines from the world figure in this list. Emirates is not one of them.
Compared to its competitors, Qatar Airways fleet is very new and growing astoundingly fast. As of now, Qatar Airways only flies A340 from the 4 Engine category aircraft. With the arrival of the 787 Dreamliner, sales of 4 Engine A380 and B747 may get a beating.
On a personal front, I prefer Emirates to any other in the region cause I just love B777.
