There are limited opportunities for expat lawyers here. Qatar law is, of course unique, and not as legally constricted in the corporate world as in the EU or US. Most firms in need of corporate legal advice when dealing with other countries simply hire a firm from the outside. I consult with a number of groups dealing with substantial investments in UK property and companies, and I don't think I have ever dealt with an in-house solicitor here.

If he is willing to try something new, my advice is for him to think about what else interests him and pursue that path.
