Amoud, appreciate your input here but you need to realize that the camera is just a machine and it is made by humans. It is programmed to do something given that the external factors match the pre recorded settings , and there are limits to it. There are enough cases the camera can get confused and in such a circumstance, you will need to adjust your settings manually.
For example, try shooting a face keeping the sun behind, on full auto mode. You will see just a dark space instead of the face. Auto mode cant do this because it does not know whether to expose for the sun or to expose for the face. Using manual mode, you can tell the camera where to expose. Simple as that.
Different people see things in a different perspective and I was one of those who thought Photoshop was cheating until I found out how useful it can be.. try it..
The same way, photography is a profession for some and not for many. And there do exist all kinds of professions.. type setting, cooking, cleaning and even tasting food are some of those different professions and even they can be debated by who think they are not professions!
By the way I appreciate your input to this topic with respect and I do not intend to offend you by any means...
And what I have said here might be useful for someone and I thank you for making me say all this stuff! :-)
