Oh my EC universities. It's interesting to watch as that place starts to find it's feet and I'll furthermore be interested to see how things pan out in 10-20 years time with the quality of graduates they churn out.
Here's how I see things so far...
The facilities are top class, you couldn't really ask for anymore.
Student life appears to be fairly liberal compared to the rest of Qatar, which yet again is one concern people had dealt with.
Now the quality of the degree...I would disagree with those who consider a degree from a Qatar university equal to that of it's counterpart in the US. As it stands, they are borrowing the brand name, and like most things in life they will have to stand on their own merits. It's way too early to make any judgement as to how sucessful they are either in terms of research quality or education quality.
Lecturer wise, still way too early to judge, time will tell, although I am skeptical when I see people like J.Maas lecturing. When you have people who have been convicted of sexual harassment still working around teens/young adults you have to question the quality of the rest. http://www.law.cornell.edu/nyctap/I99_0157.htm
Anyway, I hope any doubts are unfounded and EC is able to prove itself as a wise investment for future graduates.
