are not covered by Qatari labor law. Apparently they are not considered employees, but rather 'quasi' members of the family (and thus labor law doesn't apply to them).

So these people basically have little or no protection from abuse here; people can pretty much treat them how they want (because there are no laws governing maximum #hours to be worked, overtime, benefits to be included, etc.).
