deedee and others, our maids have days off, but they don't want to go places. We send them to other peoples houses who have maids that they know and they have a lot of fun doing that. They wake up and a certain time, do their job, then in the afternoon they have their rest until anyone needs them. We weren't dependent on maids to have them on call. Holidays are off, Eid and other depending on their beliefs, and if church is something they want, they get to go. So you want me reported for caring for my maids, and caring for my family? Fine, go ahead and do the job, and when they come to investigate we'd get an award for best treatment in town.
Just because we don't accept having personal mobiles and going out on days off without supervision doesn't make up bad people. We had a maid, not going to mention her nationality because it doesn't matter, had 3 mobile phones. When I personally caught her with a man in her room, in OUR house ( she's married with 3 kids back home ), I didn't care for her, but for the safety of the house owners. What if the man attacked or raped anyone else in the house? What if he stole from us, who would we blame, isn't it her? So why open the door and give way to such problems.
Inshallah when you all who disagree with me get a maid and she brings in strangers into your house and you have daughters, or other maids under your responsibility, who you are responsible for, then come and talk to me.
Plus, every month or two months I take them all out and we go to Lulu Hypermarket or Sana and we let them shop. But the beauty of this shopping spree is my sisters and I put a budget from our pockets for each one to buy with. So we pay for them and it isn't from their salary. If it exceeds the amount, which is many time QR400 each, then they pitch in. Just for them to feel responsible and not over do it. During Eid, they come with us to congratulate family members and EACH house they get in to they walk out with a minimum of QR100.
So, after saying all that, not to justify my decisions, but for you to think about the poor maid that lives with you and that needs a man in her life for a second income BECAUSE you are not giving her what she needs and wants.
