I have been running a QX9650 at 4GHz for the last year and a half, so this should be a piece of cake to get going. I just need to read up a bit on the difference of i7 overclocking vs the old FSB standard overclocking. EVGA forums are ok, but they have a TON of misinformation. I usually stick with XSystems.org and OCFOrums.com which have a bunch of knowlegeable people.
As for games, I am a sucker for MMOs and currently playing EQ2. Its pretty graphically demanding once youre doing 24man raids and trying to keep all the eye candy turned up. Doesnt help I game at 1920x1600 res and enjoy my AA / AF cranked up.
I would still like to get through Crysis, which kind of runs like crap on my 4870x2 card. There Physics does make a difference of ~10 frames or so on these type games. Either way, the 8800 GTS isnt worth much of anything anyway and I have an open 8x PCIe slot sitting empty.
I also do a bit of photography and editing, hence the 12GB of Dominator GT DDR3 2000 ram. This rig should keep me busy for the next year with the exception of the upcoming GT300 nVidia cards.
