get a new car, probably SUV. Japs automobile would be a better option as it has a better re-sale value and easy to resel. since you will be here for a short period only.
mostly new cars are maintenance free during your first 20,000km, Euro car even offers 3 to 5 years maintenance free. If I am in your shoes, I will get "Big Bad SUV"... its a jungle out there!
