it's not acceptable, from what i can see, if your opinion deviates from the accepted norm (i.e islamic culture is the greatest, western sucks, and btw Isreal is completly evil, in every sense, all the time). THAT'S THE PROBLEM. we have some iNCREDIBLY opinionated people in this region, which i actually prefer to apathy, however they just can't seem to take what they dish out.
if progress is to happen they have to get used to people disagreeing. and be willing to question their own beliefs and opinions critically, instead of just entrenching themselves in propaganda and buzz words, and falling back on 'this must be right because the koran tells me so na na na na boo boo' (that drives me nuts no matter which religion is doing it, using a text I may or may not agree with as ultimate proof to shut down debate entirely).
