I just have a few comments, and they're in a long list : sorry :)
Let's not discuss Islam here, this is a topic about a marriage that was not approved in Qatar because it's not allowed in Islam (a muslim woman married to a non-muslim).
This issue is very similar to a muslim with more than one wife who goes to live in the US, they would only recognize ONE wife.
Nobody should judge the law of the land, you need to accommodate to it. It's a fact of life.
The Quran only available is in Arabic, I'm sure you'll be able to find many flaws in the English translations. Even in the Arabic Quran you need to fully understand any ayah (probably by reading many tafseer) before even trying to explain it.
Any discussion about religion digresses to a futile attempt to convert one-another, it's not going to happen. We all have convictions, and those who are doubtful will seek the knowledge themselves.
Platao is confusing me. If you are seeking knowledge about Islam, ask the scholars (not QL); If you're just faking it because you want to marry a muslim woman that's your choice, but there's no need for some of what many of use see as Islam-bashing.

Sorry again about the long post.
