We all KNOW about the Phillippino "people's warm hospitality, genuine interest, loyalty, willingness to die for their country".
And of course no-one thinks of them as illiterate, dirty people!
But many of us DIDN'T know about the food culture, nor the fascinating names! And let's face it, it was these two subjects which the writer dwelt on and wrote most amusing about.
I know many Pinays here in Doha and I think most will have a good chuckle when they read this article. They have a wonderful ability to see the funny side of life and don't take themselves too seriously.
Hey! I've even seen a thread, started by a Pinay/Pinoy, which was headed: You know you're a Phillippino when ..." and proceeded to make fun of all the stereotypical things about life in the Phillippines. It was a good giggle.
The article by this journalist actually made me want to re-visit the Phillippines. He obviously adores living there.
