You could always offer to have the medical (ask what they require checking) in your base country and ask them to pay the ticket if the medical is clear.
Alternativelyand if you are certain that you don't have any of the "banned" afflictions(TB, HIV, hepatitus or whatever else the check for now) I suppose you could take the risk.
I know when I went to Qatar for interview in 1982, QGPC asked me to buy a ticket which they refunded when I arrived for the interview.
