Tallg, to confirm this i suggest you check how much another airline for instance Emirates will charge to dubai and doha. My guess is that it will be cheaper to travel from London to Doha and cost more to Dubai using Emirates than QR and so on and so forth.

That's one and the greatest of the ways that hub airlines use to maximise on revenue. Not many people want to be transiting for hours since most of them are usually running short on time (time is money!). For example, if i am going on holiday, i try to make the best out of the days taken and time wasted transitting cannot be recovered hence i would rather pay the higher fare and get the program started. After all, i work my butt off to earn the money, you know!
