Until the police and drivers of low-numbered Land Cruisers/Range Rovers begin to obey the speed limits, stop using their mobile phones while driving, and wear their seat-belts, it's unlikely that anyone else in Qatar will believe the laws are being enforced.

In many other countries, traffic violations by police and senior community leaders would be strictly punished. That doesn't seem to be the case in Doha. It's common for a police Nissan Patrol to push you out of the fast-lane even if you're driving at the speed limit.

I just don't understand why people can't see the accident figures that appear regularly in the papers and equate it with their own driving style.
