I just love the answer above given by Cro-Mags. It's absolutely classic! I went to get a Police Report aka Certificate of Good Conduct this morning and it was surprisingly efficient.
To get there: on Salwa Road, heading towards the Saudi border, go through Decoration R/A, then go through three more R/As, over the big flyover and then take the first slip road on the right. You'll see a clump of (dirty) white buildings on the right. Turn towards them and then go right at the second entrance that says "Public". Both men and women can be fingerprinted here. There are different requirements depending on what you need the Police Report for. I needed it for immigration purposes. This is what the requirements were:
*Completion of one-page form which they'll give you
*Copy of Personal Details page of your passport
*Copy of your Residence Permit in passport
*Copy of ID (I was asked for this, but my husband was asked for his original ID)
*QR10 - you'll need a debit or credit card, not cash
Opening hours: 6:30am to 12 noon
We got there at 6:20am and were told to get a number at the reception desk. Once served, we then had to get another number to have fingerprints taken (all electronic, no dirty ink), then back to the original counter. We were told it would take about a week and the rather helpful lady at the counter gave me a number to phone to check if it was ready. We were out by 7am.
The lady mentioned that they get very busy at about 9, so I suggest go early.
