If you believe in Destiny then you also believe in Fate.

In business you can be 'destined for greater things' then Fate deals you a blow (someone gets to the boss before you do) and so you may not achieve your destiny.

On the other hand, Lady Luck may play a part in this, and by chance you get to the boss before the other person does and there you have it.

You had a destiny and got lucky.
