I have nothing to do with the running of QL, so don't believe anything I write about this site.

There is a chat-room that I set up a few weeks ago, but it's experimental. It works, but has some annoying problems. At the moment, there is no guarantee that the ngourlay in the chat room is the same ngourlay on QL.

Drupal, the system that QL use to build this site, has a feature called 'distributed authentication'. It's not enabled at the moment, but it allows people to login to QL using their LiveJournal accounts, or login to LiveJournal using their QL account. It could be used to solve the username problem.

After that problem had been sorted, there is the question of whether chat is a good idea. A lot of people visit QL to find information about setting up home or to buy a car. Others visit QL to talk about local news, or discuss religion. Chat would be useful for taking some of the heat out of the discussion forums, but I'm not sure people want that.
