If you are using a laptop, try Suse Linux or Ubuntu.

These works well with most of the laptops.

Fedora 8 just in case might work.. but you'll have to configure the sound-card manually. 

Anywayz....  my recommendation goes for suse linux 10.3.

The beryl desktop thing too works perfectly fine with it. 

I had some problems with beryl while testing with ubuntu. 

Linux Vixta  ???  may be tooo primitive..
