This is my first post so I hope that I don't make an a total fool out of myself.
It is true that not learning Islamic knowledge is a catastrophe that
unfortunately is all to common today. However what is equally disturbing is
the fact that many Muslims don't know what knowledge is. Many people
seem to be content taking from the opinions of men while leaving the Quran
and the sunnah behind. This isn't to say that we don't need the scholars
because we do. But as Muslims we have to remember that anything we
hear or read has to be judged in light of the Quran, the sunnah, and the
example of the the prophet's companions. When we return to these sources
then we will really have found the true knowledge.
Lastly, this post was not meant as an attack upon anyone. Rather it is a
general reminder for every Muslim (myself included) so please don't be
offended.
