I am a bit confused as to what fees you cannot afford with regards to adopting a pet from QAWS.

Qaws' adoption fees are stuctured according to the age of the animal.

1) 6weeks and up - vaccinations QR 300 - Done at the vets. Depending on whether the animal has had other vaccinations or if its the first set, it will cost you another QR600 to complete the course.

2) 5months and up - spay or neuter - between 700-1500 depending on the vet costs

3) An adoption fee to the shelter at your discrestion - but please bare in mind that QAWS has been taking care of the animal you wish to adopt since it was brought to the shelter.

The first 2 amounts are vet charges not ours. You should realise that if we take the dog into the vet the amount has a slight discount - where as if you take it in, you will pay full price which is about QR200 more on those services. And if you adopt a dog/cat from QAWS these meidcal services are a must to ensure your new pets health. And also so allivate the possibility of any unwanted puppies.

So now, please tell me, why are these costs so expensive. If you buy an animal in from another country, or heaven forbid you buy an animal from the souq, it is going to cost you more money, as you will still need to vaccinate and spay/neuter the animal. BTW.... invaribly, if you buy an animal from the souq it will probably cost you a fortune and you won't have a pet afterwards because most pets from the souq die within a few days.

I really wish people would realise it takes money to feed, medicate, keep a roof over the heads of the animals at QAWS - The shelter doesn't get anything for free!!!

If you cannot afford the medical expenses, you need to really re-think having a pet.
