11 weeks old topic. I wonder why it is raked again.I saw a QLer posting something on similar lines about why Indian ladies smell. A few facts - Prior to Mughal Queen Noorjahan who created the rose 'attar'(a kind of perfume), use of perfume was very common in India. The main reason was spiritual purpose. For this reason incense and perfume like sandalwood, rose, jasmine etc. were offered while worshipping and also smeared on body. After the advent of soaps, these rituals were only limited to prayer time or special religious occasions.
In Qatar the humid climate may be the reason for sweating and body odour (ofcourse not limited to Indians alone) and hence the use of perfume becomes neccessary. The usage of french perfume is not popular amongst most Indians and some even associate the perfume with being irritating, allergic and increasing odour pollution. Indians maintain a healthy hygiene and taking a bath is an essential routine because of religious reasons also. If you have an extremely sensitive nose than I suggest you gift perfumes to those who smell bad.
