a friend of mine once went on a road trip to dubai. she said it was okay but a bit boring since it will take i think 8 hours to reach dubai by road. you have to procure a transit visa for saudi since you will be passing through their territory and of course you have to secure a visa to the UAE unless your work visa states that you are an accountant, engineer, etc. any work visa that entitles you to buy visa upon arrival in the UAE.
