As far as I know both of you should present a certificate of singleness stating that both of you are eligible to wed. but if the male is married previously, i heard that he should obtain permission from the first wife. this is if you will be married here in qatar. but if it will be in the philippines, as long as both of you are single, you just have to fill out some forms with the local National Statistics Office. the names of the people wishing to get married will be posted. wait for a week and if there are any objections then you can safely wed.
