I am not sure of the exact cost, but so many people do it that it must be worth it in certain cases. Especially that local dealers are 2-3 times more expensive than in the US, particularly if you can buy a car from an auction. Just remember that it has to be less than 5 years old or it won't be let in.
It would help if a similar model existed here so you can get replacement parts easily. However, since local dealers and parts shops inflate their prices 100s of percent over internet and US prices, it may make sense to have your parts shipped here anyway. I already do that as much as possible as car parts are 2-3 times cheaper in the UAE or on line than here.
