Not cos there's anything wrong with them (that I know of) but simply because I joined a Hotel Sports Club and there's a swimming pool there.
Others, with children, could advise you better about the public beaches. I know some of the Hotels have private beaches but to avail yourselves of that luxury you would need membership, which can be difficult to get unless you know the right people. They nearly ALWAYS say there's a waiting list.
