I agree that the pet shops here are dreadful, I am one of those cowardly people who can't actually go in there but I have heard enough stories. One thing I would like to add. I know that when you are looking for a dog, you may have set your heart on a particular breed that are unusual here but maybe is popular back home. I know that you may be tempted to import one if you can't find a pup here. But please, remember that there are lots of dogs who need homes, dogs who deserve a second chance in life and are just as likely to be a loyal friend for years, even if they don't look the way you want them to. The band of animal welfare angels here lavish love and care on these dogs and teach them to trust humans. You will be getting a dog who is fit, healthy and whose character will have been assessed. A tiny pup in a box subjected to the trauma of a long journey after leaving it's mother too early will not be as well adjusted. Remember, we don't choose our human friends according to the way they look. jj
