Qatar being tax-free is a story for those who believe in Santa Klaus. Everything is more expensive in Qatar, and housing costs (I pay QAR 9500 for a 2 bedroom apartment in a normal building with normal maintenance, which is extremely rare in Qatar) make the "tax free benefit" a joke. Add to it rampant inflation and you will get the picture.

So most of professionals stay here not because of the salary and benefits, but because of the professional satisfaction, and the rare chance to make an impact on the country in growth.

Of course I am not talking about poor souls who have to work in Qatar for measly wages just because they can't get job in their home countries.
