actually I had an 'out of this world' experience once, which I still can't explain.
I was sleeping in a bedroom in an old thatched cottage and from the bedroom there were stairs down to the kitchen. I woke in the night and saw a figure dressed in Monk's robes walking up the stairs, but then he continued to walk up through the room toward the ceiling, and with each step a stair appeared for him to put his foot on and he was saying
I tried to move, and I couldn't! When he eventually disappeared through the ceiling I could move. It was the feeling that I was frozen in time that was the scariest bit.
Next day the people I was staying with told me I had been sleeping in the original old part of the house.
