I was always brought up KNOWING that the head of the family was really the Mother and hers before her. :D
I knew that the Mother was as capable (if not more so) than the Father in mending things around the house, juggling finances etc.
I was never a careerist but I imagine the women who 'gripe' about equality are those in the workplace who don't GET equality, despite being like the Mothers I mention above who are as capable etc.
In anything else I always felt being a woman was an advantage in getting what one wanted ...
