is that like the string on numbers on the back of the CD packing when you buy an original?

Because I know we once had a pirated copy of Office Windows (I think) and it had that string of numbers (which have to be entered into your computer when you register it to download it) but a couple had been changed in ink. It worked.

I think we are talking about the same thing, aren't we? Just I'm using an old fashioned expression by calling it 'pirated'.

Then again, maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree (just 'barking mad' more like lol)
