Not all westerners are born rich or pampered, many of them are very stingy, they even claim 2 riyals for water, if it can be reimbursed from the company. I know many westerners who dont spent anything other than food, because rest all are taken care of by the employer. Many of them are seeing all these luxury and owning big cars only after coming here. They get salary which they cannot even dream in their own country. Unfortunately in Qatar pay is fixed as per skin color/nationality and not as per their qualification or experience. Some westerns who work as Mason or a Mechanic in their Country are working as Construction Managers and Mechanical Engineers. I personally know some cases like this; they won’t change the job because they don’t have a Certificate to show their Qualification. (No offense meant..its a fact)
Coming to the question, a decent apartment will cost 6.5K to 7K. If its just 2 of you then this amount is barely enough, you wont get anything to save. Maybe if your wife manage to find a job then you can have some savings.
