just came back from Italy via Istanbul on Turkish Airways, no complaints at all! Going out had one and a half hours between flights but our luggage arrived ok. Have noticed than they tend to arrive about half an hour b4 advertised time, probably to ensure that their official timekeeping records look good, so an hour is probably ok. But my experience with local carriers makes me very chary of relying on bag handlers and I always ensure that anything vital is carried as hand luggage. BTW the fare was far cheaper than local rivals as well.
