I often stay at the RENDEZVOUS Hotel, as it is cheaper than most 4 star hotels (but still not cheap !)
From there its a pleasant / flat walk to see Chimes (an old convent now a restaurant complex) and Raffles Hotels. The latter is a "must see." Again within a few minutes walk is St Andrews Cathedral, built by Indian convict labour I understand. Minutes further down North Bridge Road is the Parliamant, Supreme Court and Fullerton Hotel, which are all "must sees" if you like architecture. Just across from the Fullerton is the new Arts Centre (The Durian Building) and the start of Boat Quay. Along the river, Boat Quay, Clarke Quay and Robertson Quay are all great places to eat and drink.
I went to Sentosa island for the first time in years. Its just a big money machine !
