One of the reasons they didn't remain fashionable for more than a couple of months is because they are difficult to keep and have a habit of biting bad owners.
You can not leave a GSD outside all of the summer, it will die. GSDs are natural guard dogs and will bark all night if left outside, the Police are very strict about this. If your neighbours complain (and they do) you will have to get rid of the dog immediately or be arrested.
I am not trying to put you off, I am sure you are a very nice person, it's just my years of working in a vet clinic made me more realistic about keeping GSDs. There is a wonderful GSD trainer here though, you can inquire through QAWS.
QAWS has lots of GSD cross salukis, that is because last season GSDs were trendy, lovely pups but get dumped when growing up. Next season will be Labradors and Pit Bulls with a few Rottweilers thrown in.
