When I was in Qatar we had a maid who would press/iron our clothes. And i never throught it was difficult until they day I went to canada and had to do it myself. I burned two of my best shirts and thats not all, the firealarms as they are a must in North America greeted the smell of the burning cotton by ringing. The firemen came to reset the alarms and the whole residence/hostel (with 100 students) came to know of my heroic deed. It was the talk of our residence for one whole month. Luckily my next adventure went without being noticed (Thank God)
I had never done my laundry in Qatar so I didn't know which color goes with whites and which clothes should be washed separately. I mixed all of them together put them in the washing machine and came back after 30 minutes to realize that my vests, briefs and all the undies have some textures/shades that they didn't have before. Bit it went un-noticed as they are worn underneath the other garments
Morale of the story: It is okay to have maids servants but teach your kids these simple house chores becasue they might need them one day.
I forgot to tell that I learned how to iron my clothes from a girl who was living in the same residence. (I still owe you)
Remeber treat your servant with the same respect as your wish to be treated by your bosses
