I had a similar problem once. My Power steering oil got leaked. I called the mechanic home and he removed the belt for power steering pump. I steered the car by two hand and took the car to garage. It was very tough but I managed it some how.
I think you can get someone to do the same for you. Its better to fix there then fixing at home. Moreover if the authorities will notice oil spilled from your car while fixing at home or on street, they can fine you for it.
