It is common lore that cats have nine lives. It is a tribute to their perceived durability, their occasional apparent lack of instinct for self-preservation, and their seeming ability to survive falls that would be fatal to other animals. They can live alone and in a group...can be vicious when provoked.
I grew up with cats around the house (my grandmother's), 10-15 all in all. Now, I have 7 cats back home. No special breed, just alley cats we adopted now and then or who adopted us (hehehe).
