Please, if you are thinking about doing this yourself and you don't know how, Don't. The whole point is to prevent any stress or suffering and even though I am a vegetarian and also not Muslim, I have no issue with the formal rules surrounding this ritual if it is done properly. However, many people use a blunt knife, or cause the animal stress by treating it cruelly before killing it, or by stuffing it in the boot of their saloon car to take it home, this is not right in any culture. Halal is actually a very humane way of slaughtering an animal, if you don't follow it, can you say the meat is Halal?
