I agree with your comments but I don't think cost of living will make a big difference (it will make a difference though) given that most of the things are paid by the company like housing, utilities, school, transportation etc. (the main killer expenses), however, there are some expenses which are directly related to cost of living which doesn't account to many $$$. I have visited both the countries for the interview, I found Qatar better than Oman (no particular reason)
