Iknlhaving been through the same process myself a few months ago this is the easiest way to begin with - Go to Qtel in City centre - just present your passport and they will give you a pay-as-you go Hala account. Then later on once you have got your RP you can convert it to post paid contract. At least this way you get a number on day one! Good luck.
