Hi,

I don't know about Bahrain.

Also I am in the early forties and my answers might not suit a person of your age.

I myself I just came here in Qatar two months ago. At first I complained. I even post a topic entitled: I am moody today. Try to read it. Search for it in the search box above.

Anyways, in many respect Qatar seems to be a good place as we don't have the bad things that we have back home, such as high crime rate, sexual decadence, high petrol prices, high food costs( although there is an inflation rate of 17% at the moment), lack of respect for your fellow human being.

However, I still have not fully comprehended why there are so many reckless drivers on the roads, why jumping the queues is tolerated. Btw, there are many accidents here with most of them not due to pure mistakes or lapse of attention/concentration but due to mere recklessness and lack of consideration to other drivers.

In terms of entertainment, I guess you'll find all kinds of sports being practiced here. But as is normal in any islamic country, there are no public bars, pubs etc.

The beach and sea are good but they are very much spoiled by some people from the 3rd world countries who see it normal to litter the beach, as if their servants will come and clean up after their mess.(I saw it with my own two eyes how they litter the place).

If you have kids, they might feel bored as they start school early and finish early and by the time you get home, they've already spent 5 hours on their own. Besides I find european schools very exhorbitive.

Rentwise: Well the cost of a 2 bedroom unfurnished flat is 8500 riyals a months. Fuly furnished is 9500 riyals. you might get housing allowance from your employer anyway.

Language seems to be a problem to me. I find it hard to communicate when i go shopping. Either i speak bad english( after having lived 19 yrs in the UK) or simply some people here don't understand English. I blame nobody for that.

Weekends are Fridays and Saturdays. And Fridays, I found, is almost a dead day as most shops are closed.

That is my most honest reply to you. I could say more but am too tired today.
