I only read about it in papers that some asian athletes complained of the rude behavior of Security Personnel.
But I saw it with my own eyes only the day before yesterday.
Venue:- Al Sadd Indoor Stadium
Event: Sepak Takraw
Time: 11.AM.
I didnt expect the crowd to be soo large. Anyways, work is work and the security personnel have to do their work!...but with some decency, patience and if possible, a smile on their faces.
This lady from a south east asian country is obviously a guest. She is also wearing some kind of blue colored pass that allows her privileged access(I dont know why she had endure the Queue in the spectator entrance).
She was carrying a small backpack. When she arrived at the metal detector entrance, this guard just snaps and blasts off into the stratosphere in Arabic. The gist could be made out from the tone, facial expressions and hand gestures which to my understanding went something like this- what the...DO you have to bring a bag for such silly games? Dont you know there is another entrance for ladies like you?..and so on...
The poor lady was seeing stars. By the time the crowd was growing and I also made it sound urgent by requesting him -'habibi-shoi sabr' and 'match start' and 'please'...etc.
I could see tears in this lady's eyes. I can bet she will not be in the DAGOC appreciation society.
The fantastic preparations for the 15th Asiad just goes up in smoke because of a lowly security guard?
Lessons must be learnt from this.
PS: I must say- At the same time, I saw quite a bunch of cheerful and helpful guards at the Aspire Stadium.
Really dont know what to make of this.
