I have two kids in the french school (7 & 5 years old). As far as I know they are overbooked till 2008. This year they added new classes because of the number of student.
But there are always exceptions based on nationality (french is the preferred, then the french speaking european countries). I'm not sure if Canada is on the list. I can check and let you know if you are interested.
As for being a good school, for me it is very good on Doha's standard. but the judgement depends on where you are coming from and what level is considered good for you. sometimes they do compromise on the quality of teachers because of the shortage of the qualified french speaking teachers in Doha.
