cscot,

We're in a similar situation. We'll be bringing our dog, Shltie, and I wanted to share what I've done so far.

Instead of using a local pet relocation service, I went ahead and began working with Qatar Pet Relocators: http://qatarpetrelocators.com

I sent them an email and I got a response back promptly and they answered all my questions. As such, I'm very impressed.

They will send you an info packet/application packet. With the exception of health certificate, you can go ahead and send in your dog's immunization record information as well as travel info if you already have it. Scan the documents and send as an attachment.

If you don't know the travel dates yet, as is the situation we're in, make sure to get your dog's health certificate within 10 days of arrival date in Qatar. That's how long it's good for. As soon as you get it, send it to QPRS so that they can process the application for import permit. The absolute min number of days they'll need is three working days, and Friday is not a working day.

Any additional questions you may have, they can answer them.

By the way, how are you bringing your pet? In the cargo area or in the cabin area? We looked into the possibility of bringing our pet in the cabin area but with a baby to tow, it'll be really difficult. But there's a couple of airlines that will allow you to bring the dog in the cargo area: Lufthansa, KLM, possibly Air France (not sure on that one)
