Thank you so much for your message to DG and myself. It means a lot to us. Dohagirl and I feel like we should probably explain more about why we have chosen to leave QL. It is not because of the “no bantering thread which we actually totally agree with. Everyone here knows we are usually the first ones to offer an advice or opinion and help others out. We joined this forum to connect with other people in Qatar, learn a thing or two, and make those long working hours seem a little shorter with a good discussion. However, now we feel like QL has changed to the point that we do not feel welcome on the site anymore. This is not just because of the attitudes of others, rather it is our attitude. Our jokes, morals and values often clash with those of the other members and we feel it is unfair of us to continue forcing our way of thinking on them. We are tired of trying to be something we are not – we are not always politically, religiously or morally correct. We are tired of constantly being reprimanded or patronised for being ourselves. Yes we did hijack threads and made fun of things which perhaps are not funny to other people, and we did banter for hours about sex with vegetables and pimping and dating and such like. We didn’t anticipate it would cause others so much distress. We were there for everyone who needed our help or wanted to laugh with us and we were rarely expecting others to take us seriously. Obviously our attitude is not welcome on the community/family forum, nor do we particularly enjoy being called a “live performance gang by other prominent members. Our apologies, Qatari.
Qatar Living is truly a great site, and an excellent resource, but is not the site we joined anymore.
