Hi Paul

I will also be relocating my German Shepherd to Doha soon. I am already here, but felt that it would not be fair on him to just take him straight into the heat of summer. I will bring him in winter rather, it will be easier for him to adapt.

Unfortunately, there is no cool time in Doha in summer. So walking them early morning or very late evening subjects them to about 10 degrees less heat than if you had done it in the middle of the day.

I have seen dogs being walked on lead on the Cornish, which is a stretch of walkway along the water front. I am canvasing for grassy parks and patches at the moment so I will know where to take Anex when he arrives.

You are luckier than I am in that you will have a villa and some garden for your babies. I live in an apartment and Anex will be inside all day. I am trying to find a dogwalker to assist me during the day. I had a routine with him back home to take him out early morning and late evening, so will continue to do that.

Some people might think it's cruel to lock a dog up inside all day, but really, what else will he do outside? Lie and sleep? It would be to hot for him to get up and bark at anyone. So at least he gets to lie on mom's bed with the A/C blowing on him. Trust me, thats his ultimate ambition in life anyway, lol.

Hope this helps a little. I have the contact details for a company here in Qatar that will assist you with all the documentation regarding their import into Qatar. Thank goodness quarantine is not required.

You can mail me on [email protected] if you have any further questions.
