For drinking we buy bottled water.
However we use the piped water for tea, coffee, cooking, etc.; i.e. anything involving boiling the water.
Having said that I have a 5-stage filtration system at home:
1. Filter before municipality water enters tank.
2. Filter immediately after water exits main tank and before entering home tank.
3. Filter before water enters home tank.
4. Filter after water exits home tank.
5. British Berkefeld ceramic filter in kitchen for coffee, cooking, etc. The "Super Sterasyl" filters reduce up to 99.99% of particulates, cysts, parasites and pathogenic bacteria including but not limited to E.Coli, Cryptosporidium, Girardia and Salmonella Typhi. Additionally, British Berkefeld filters will reduce chlorine, rust, sediment and organic chemicals.

I've had this system for 9 years now and we've never had a water-related health problem or a sickness and I have small children.
You might think that it's too much hard work and you could just buy bottled water but I installed it after cleaning the shower heads and seeing all the rubbish accumulating there and wonder what it was doing to my hair, scalp and skin.
