Wow. It's going to be a little hard to follow that! Super, was that a leftover College essay or something? :)
What I would like to say to GIASI and Lilli is that what you are asking us to do is not look at the Koran with an open mind but look at it with blind faith. An open mind means to listen, take into account the evidence. An open mind is receptive to different ideas and opinions.
The problem with religion is that it doesn't look at Holy Books with an open mind but with a very closed, rigid mind that is not open to any other interpretation than what the religion dictates.
As Super as just proved in his lengthy post, there is no doubt the Quran (or the Bible or the Torah or any other holy book) has been perverted by human nature and various human culture. If you were to look at the Quran clinically and try to descern God's actual message from centuries of human perversion it would be an immpossible task. SO what Islam and Christianity and Judaism are doing is following a "holy" book that is so rife with human fault and opinion that any holiness in it was lost centuries ago.
I refuse to beleive any stories about Muhammed or Jesus or Moses with blind faith when anyone with an open mind can see the holes in those stories a million miles away. Nor will I follow "Holy" books written by people who heard the prophets and than later decided to write down what they said, but in turn are nomore holy than me.
